Montalto, Italy (Operation 'Dragoon')

On 16th July the 437th left Ramsbury for Italy to take part in Operation 'Dragoon' - the invasion of southern France. Their base in Italy was Montalto airfield, situated about 50 miles north-west of Rome.

Below: Operation 'Dragoon' took place on 15th August and was a total success. A week or so later the 437th returned to Ramsbury via Gibraltar. (R. Pearson).
